I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. In 1985, my husband and I moved to rural Michigan where I developed an interest in nature photography. My photographs have been displayed in juried exhibitions, published in local newspapers, and my picture of a red-legged locust appears in Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia. In 2003 the first groundhog, named Wilhelmina, arrived on our property. I found her intriguing and became committed to studying this often elusive animal. For 20 years I have observed and documented their wild lives from the time they emerge from hibernation until it's time for them to snuggle up into their burrows for their winter sleep.
